> The preferences that DooFiles saves in your browser: the preview, the width of the panels, the order of the list, how long finished uploads stay listed, the sound when uploads finish and the open folders, and how to clear them all.

## Overview

Some preferences of DooFiles only change how you see it, so they are saved in your browser instead of on your server. They do not affect other administrators, and they do not follow you to another browser or device.

You find them in **DooFiles › Settings**, in the **This browser** group. They are saved as soon as you change them: DooFiles shows *Saved in this browser.*

## Panels and preview

| Preference | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| **Open the preview when editing** | Markdown, HTML and JSON files open with the preview next to the code | Off |
| **Folders panel width** | The width of the folder panel. Drag its edge in the file manager to change it, and click **Reset** here to go back to the default | Default |
| **Preview width** | How the editor splits the code and the preview. Drag the divider in the editor to change it, and click **Reset** here to go back to half and half | Half and half |

## List and folders

| Preference | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| **List order** | The column and direction the file list is sorted by. Click a column title in the list to change it, and **Reset** here to go back | Name, ascending |
| **Keep finished uploads for** | How many minutes finished uploads stay in the Completed tab of the uploads panel, even after a reload. From 1 to 1,440 minutes | 10 minutes |
| **Sound when uploads finish** | Plays a short chime when nothing is left in the In progress tab. Click **Play** to hear it | On |
| **Open folders in the tree** | How many folders the tree keeps open between visits. **Close all** closes them | — |

## What else DooFiles remembers in this browser

Without a row of their own, DooFiles also remembers:

- where you left the uploads panel, and whether it was normal, minimized or expanded;
- the list of finished uploads, for the minutes you set;
- which cards of **DooFiles › Settings** you left open.

## Clear everything

To put every preference of this browser back as it comes, click **Clear everything DooFiles saved in this browser**, at the bottom of the **List and folders** card, and confirm. This also empties the list of finished uploads. Nothing changes on your server, and other administrators are not affected.

These preferences are also cleared when you clear the data of your site in your browser, and are not kept in a private window.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| My preferences are not there on another computer | They are saved in each browser. Set them again there |
| My preferences were reset | The data of the site was cleared in your browser, or you used a private window |
| The list keeps an order I do not want | Click a column title in the list, or **Reset** in **List order** |
| The uploads panel is in an odd place | Drag it by its top bar, or click **Clear everything DooFiles saved in this browser** |
