License activation
This page explains how to activate your Dbmovies license. Activation is an important step to guarantee the correct functioning of the plugin: without an active license, the main features remain locked.
What the license unlocks
Your Doothemes license is the only credential Dbmovies needs. Once activated, it provides:
- Access to all the plugin functions.
- Access to updated IMDb data for your content.
- Access to the synchronization services that keep your metadata up to date.
- Free updates delivered directly to your WordPress admin panel.
License limits
Every license has a daily request limit. Each operation that consumes data from the remote services, such as imports, IMDb data retrieval, and metadata synchronization, counts toward this limit.
The limits are defined by the license type you purchased. You can review the available license types and their daily limits on the official store page:

If you reach your daily limit, the remote operations are paused until the limit resets. You can upgrade to a higher license type at any time if your project needs a larger volume of requests.
Where can I find my license key?
When you complete your purchase, you receive an email with the details of your order, including your license key. You can also view and manage all your licenses at any time from your Doothemes account panel:

How do I activate my license?
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel (wp-admin).
- Go to the Dbmovies menu and open the Updates section.
- Select the Dbmovies row to open the trigger.
- Paste your key into the suggested text field for the license.
- Click on the Activate button
If everything went well, you will see a confirmation message, the activation drawer will close, and the license status will be reflected in the list as activated.
Verify your activation
After activating, confirm that:
- The license status appears as Active in the Dbmovies license section.
- The importers can retrieve content without errors.
- Plugin updates appear normally in Dashboard > Updates.
Activation problems?
Activation makes a request to a remote service, so most problems are related to the server configuration:
- Make sure your server can perform outgoing requests via cURL. This is the most common cause of failed activations.
- Verify that your firewall or hosting provider is not blocking outgoing connections to external services.
- Check that you copied the complete license key, without extra spaces before or after.
- Confirm that your license is valid and not already in use beyond the number of sites allowed by your license type. You can review the status of your licenses at app.doothemes.com/account/licenses.
If the problem persists, contact support through the premium support portal with your license key and the error message you received.
